where do I find short monologues?
I'm auditioning for a play and the requirement is to audition with a "monologue of our choice" that is under one minute. I looked up some monologues that I like but it looks like they are monologues written by average people. Can I use those? I heard it was a bad idea to audition with something famous (ie Shakespeare). I haven't auditioned before so I don't want to make a fool of myself and come with something that is not acceptable. The site that I am getting the monologues from is monologuebloggers.com

- It is called a library. It has lots of plays in it. Go read them.
- this is probably a more comprehensive site: http://www.monologuearchive.com/ Depending on what kind of play, and how the directors are, Shakespeare might not be a bad idea. If you know how to deliver a good Shakespearean monologue, you could really impress the director. If you don't want to rule Shakespeare out, here's one in Midsummer Night's Dream. Helena delivers a monologue of jealousy and love about the man she loves (Demetrius) and the lady he's trying to woo(Hermia): http://www.monologuearchive.com/s/shakespeare_025.html then again, if youre nervous about Shakespeare, there are some contemporary ones on there too.
- Good websites for monologues are: http://www.ispgroupinc.com/monologues/mo... http://www.whysanity.net/monos/ http://www.notmyshoes.net/ http://www.shakespeare-monologues.org/wo... Hope I helped! Good luck!
