Monologues From Plays

What monologue should I do to audition for my school's musical?

I'm auditioning for my school's musical: Bye Bye Birdie. I need a one minute monologue that is for girls and that won't be too embarrassing or weird. Anyone have any suggestions? I need to memorize it within a couple days. It could also be a poem. And it should probably be one I can find online.

  1. I will give you the best advice I can. Go to the library and look through several monologue books (these are books filled with monologues sorted by age, gender, genre, time period etc.). Find several monologues you can connect to. Find out what plays those monologues are from and read the plays to get a better context for the monologue. After you've done that, pick the one you can perform best. Be sure you understand who the character is, what the character wants, what obstacles stand in the character's way and what ACTIONS the character will take to overcome the obstacles and get what he/she wants
