Monologues From Plays

Doing 2 Monologues in the same day, which should I do first?

I am giving a monologue (ranging from 1 to 1 and a half minutes) at 11am and later at 2pm. The reason for this is because some of the directors in our class can't be at both auditions. So basically I will be giving a monologue to most of the same group of people. Anyway, I wanted to give two different monologues,a comedy piece and a drama piece to showcase that I can be serious and funny. Which one should I do first at the 11am one, comedy or drama monologue?

  1. What kind of play is it? All I'm thinking is that if some directors can't make it to both auditions, shouldn't you do the same piece so they are able to discuss your potential for the piece? Otherwise, they'll be trying to discuss two completely different performances when considering one person. I like your ambition but perhaps you should ask if they'd like you to do two different pieces or just the same piece before learning two monologues. For the record, I'd go with the comedy first if you decide to do both. It'll give the dramatic monologue more punch to have seen you doing a funny one earlier. Best of luck and I hope this helps.
