Monologues From Plays

What are some good comedy and dramatic monologues for film auditions for a late 20's actor?

I currently have Vince from Sam Shepard's Buried Child and Roy from James McLure's Lone Star (comedy) monologues memorized. I was looking for some advice on additional pieces and recommendations.

  1. one that shows you off to the best of your abilities. What kind of roles do you want? Find material similar to that. I would suggest to you the same thing i tell my students: If you wanna find a monologue, read a play. If you want one everyone else is doing by a monologue book. Most legit film auditions don't ask for monologues. They ask you to cold read.
  2. If you want to be an actor, why are you not reading lots of plays to find monologues so yo will be ready for auditions?. Do your groundwork. Come Blow Your Horn by Neil Simon, All My Sons by Arthur Miller. Read. Dammit!
  3. I really should stay away from inane questions, but here goes. LATE 20's might suggest 7, 8, 9??? ACTOR might suggest you ARE??? Already??? Given both assumptions, where have you been the last 20 plus years? Please say you have been to a movie, seen a play, read a book,,, at the very least.
  4. I have done some research on places on the internet where you can find monologues and scripts of all types, including duet acting scripts, film monologues, teen monologues, monologues for girls, women, men, comical monologues, short comedic monologues, etc. I also answer a lot of questions about how to effectively memorize a monologue or your lines in general as well as about common mistakes that actors often make while performing a monologue for an audition. On this page on my site for new and aspiring actors, you will find all that information including links to the types of monologues you are looking for. http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/comical_monologues.html Good luck in your audition.
